Rating every Team that has Qualified for the Final Eight Part –1
I don’t know what has happened with this Portugal team as their performances since the start of the match has never looked convincing enough. They have always looked on the brinks and somehow they have managed their way into the final 8. The biggest problem for them was their defense looked very poor in the group stages and when they came strong their attack didn’t support them. The things are simply the team has not clicked together in one single match. The last match against Croatia showed their defensive power, but their attack become blatant and their star man Cristiano Ronaldo only came to life in 116th minute. The Portugal team on the cards is a strong team to beat, but they have to click together in their next match against Poland as they also boast a strong defensive line which is only breached once and that too by the wonder goal of the tournament.
What a tournament it has been for this team. They have been the story of the tournament so far and have fought their way into the final 8. They don’t boast any star player in the team and have only ordinary names on their team sheet and neither have a fancied coach, but the way they have performed so far has been truly sensational. Iceland were the runner ups in the group stages piping Portugal to the third place. Then they had a strong opposition on the cards in the name of England, but fought their way through them and beat them after falling one goal down that truly showed their character. They face France in the next encounter, but the fact they don’t have any fancy player in their team and also England lackluster display helped them. So I am placing them on the second last spot.
Wales has been as a team that has shown a stupendous character and has come strong against the teams that have looked stronger at the papers. Gareth Bale has been undoubtedly the best player of the tournament so far; scoring three goals in four matches and has been brilliantly supported by arsenal man Aaron Ramsey. The team is yet to play a strong team and they will have to in the quarter finals where they will face Belgium. This will be the match where Gareth Bale and company will truly be tested. The welsh defense has to come stronger against the mighty Belgium or else they won’t stand a chance.
Poland has been a team that has looked more than promising and certified themselves as Dark horses. They have banked on their brilliant defense, which has only conceded one goal and was able to contain the mighty Germany. They have shown what they are capable of and will surely prove themselves as a worthy opponent against Portugal but it is yet to be seen whether they will walk out victorious or not because their Star man Robert Lewandowski is yet to open his account at the Euros, the same man who was top scorer in the qualifying scores 13 goals.
